Solid Afzelia wooden staircase with steel spindles

  • Wood used: Solid Afzelia
  • Type of balustrade: Steel spindles

After this client found us online, we set off on a design journey to find the best staircase for this vintage 60’s house. The house has great open plan architecture and has been meticulously renovated to the highest standard. The staircase was one of the last items that needed replacing.

We started with a glass specification based on what the client liked from our website. This led to a site visit where we talked through the various wood and balustrade options. With our sample box to hand, we made it easy to choose the right wood. In this case solid Afzelia was chosen as this proved to be a very good match to their teak floorboards.

The end result

The new wooden staircase now blends perfectly with the rest of the interior design while being in keeping with the house’s origin. This, together with adding an LED strip light in the side of the staircase, on the wall side and in the underside of the first step and low iron glass semi

risers on the other treads, makes this staircase a wow factor without being in your face.

What our client said

The staircase looks great. Chas is really a magician.
