Stairs of the Month - February 2017

Glass Balustrade - Chaldon - Surrey - A (1).jpg

February brings us a very open and modern project where optimal usage of natural light was key. This called for our blockstairs model made of 80 mm thick solid French Oak and specifically designed for this room. This was then finished with a toughened & laminated glass balustrade, fixed to the side of the staircase with stainless steel designer fixings, on the staircase and the galleried landing.

"Smet installed our staircase after a rigorous and creative design process. Not just an 'off the peg' copy of their previous work, but a stair whose style, function and detailing is exactly tailored to our vision for our self build project. The result exceeds our highest expectations and sets the whole tone of our house."
